Our Team

Simon Angus is an experienced engineering and project management professional with more than 20 years of leadership across oil and gas, pulp and paper, underground infrastructure rehabilitation, and advanced composite manufacturing. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Integrated Engineering with Industrial Management from the University of Liverpool, combining strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering with proven capabilities in managing complex industrial projects.

Simon is the Founder and CEO of Open Waters Design and Manufacturing, where he led the development of Canada’s first fully sustainable electric-drive sailing catamaran. Under his leadership, the company established itself as a specialist in advanced composite manufacturing and marine electrification technologies.

Earlier in his career, Simon held senior project management roles with Husky Energy, Mackenzie Pulp, and Insituform Technologies. In these roles he managed multi-million-dollar capital projects, infrastructure rehabilitation programs, and technically demanding construction operations, consistently delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Simon is known for his strategic approach to project execution, his ability to translate engineering innovation into practical industrial solutions, and his commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
